I'd like to start off by saying we've been on 10 previous cruises which included Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity, so this was our first NCL cruise. We booked this particular cruise because it's one of three ships that go to Glacier Bay, which we wanted to see before no cruise ships will be allowed in. The other ships going to Glacier Bay were Princess and Holland, but since we had children with us, we felt that NCL would offer better programs for the kids and more night life for the adults, and to try out the Freestyle dining.

We took care of our own air, and decided to spend Saturday in Seattle since the cruise was leaving on Sunday. Seattle was beautiful and would definitely recommend seeing Pike Place and the Space Needle. Check Hotwire.com for great prices on hotels. We were able to stay at the Westin Hotel for $88 a night, which was a great price for a 4 star hotel. Prices change daily, almost hourly, so check often.

Out of all the cruise ships we've been on, the check in process was by far the most streamlined and efficient. Luggage was taken immediately from the cab and brought to our rooms, and we were able to board the ship within 30 minutes of arrival. The ship was very clean and everything still looked fairly new. Here are some items that you should know, especially if you've been on other cruise lines and have certain expectations:
