Cabin: Balcony

We selected this cruise because 2 other couples that are our friends had already booked this cruise. We wanted a balcony room ant the only one left was Cabin U224 which is a modified handicap room located on the Upper deck level 6 at the very end of the hall on the Port side. It is literally the very last cabin at the back of the boat. The great thing about the room is that the door automatically opens when you insert your room key. The shower is the worse part of the cabin, it floods the bathroom every time you shower due to the slow drain and design to be a roll in shower if you are in a wheel chair, there were no ledges to stop the water. There is long drain pipe in the floor but it does not work and the bathroom floods. We called for service, they sent a plumber and he said it happens in this cabin always because of the boat motion and there was nothing they could do but clean up the mess. It was a yucky mess. You cant go back in the bathroom to use the mirror or brush your teeth unless you want to stand in a couple inches of dirty water. They did not have any other room to move us to.

The beds are comfortable, the air conditioning works great, and they had a down comforter in the closet which was nice. The downside is all the bedding stinks. It does not smell fresh and the pillows, smell like a sweaty head has slept on them and they have never been washed. I could not lay with my face or nose close to the pillow.

Food is TERRIBLE! I spent $1700 for the cruise (NOT counting air fare, excursions, drinks and entertainment on board). The food is like cafeteria food. The dining room food was a disappointment. It did not meet my expectations. The Sea Bass served on night was a piece of cold talipia on cold rice. The flat iron steak is terrible, and not edible! After 3 nights of cold food with poor service we never returned to the dining room. We at Pizza and salad instead. The Guys Burgers, Pizza counter & Blue Iguana cantina is good but who wants to eat this type of food for dinner when you pay $1700?? We did pay $173 and eat at the Chef's table for 2 people and it was the highlight of the cruise. Great food!! The chef's table lasted 4 hours!

Balcony

Cabin 8B

U224 is a balcony room. Layout is good, there is only 1 small closet, our friends had 2 closets in their balcony room. The balcony is very dirty! The chairs, door, rails and the glass shield is very nasty.
