I read the reviews posted here about the Epic and did not have the greatest expectations for our cruise (Feb 25th) I was incredibly surprised to find them all to be wrong. The Epic is a great boat with great staff. But YOU have to do your part to make your cruise as great as possible. Understand that there are 4,000 other people on board in addition to you. Just because you are on vacation does not mean you can throw manners overboard. I also shouldn’t have to look at your scowling face because you can’t plan properly.

That being said, here are my tips:

Use the online portal to make reservations for restaurants and shows ahead of time. By ahead of time I mean pretty much as soon as you get a confirmation number. Most of the best time slots for specialty dining were gone when we booked our cruise about 8 weeks out but we still managed to get all of the restaurants we wanted. Yes, we ate at 5:30pm one night – totally worth it. Cagney’s and Teppanyaki were our favorites. Shakers was great for drinks.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

Get a balcony room! As a 1st time cruiser I was spoiled and will never cruise in an interior stateroom. The balcony provides you a space to escape, if you like, the hustle and bustle of the ship to relax and watch the waves go by. Our room Mini Suite 8054 was great. Yes the bathroom is weird, but you know that going in and it works. It’s not ideal if you are traveling with a stranger that’s for sure. There was more than enough storage to unpack our suitcases for a week, and ample space in the sink area. Nit picky things like sub-par lighting, and no movable hangers are the worst offenders. Our room steward Regie was amazing. Our room was kept nicer than some hotels I’ve stayed in.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

The traffic flow is not designed to handle multiple large ships at the same time.

Tortola

The distillery and Cane Garden Bay were a great way to spend the day.
