My husband and I sailed with another couple in November/December 2016 to Belize, Honduras, and Mexico, and we all absolutely loved this cruise. This is my 6th cruise and my husband's 5th, and our first on Norwegian. We've also cruised on Carnival and Disney. After being spoiled by Disney, I was worried about being disappointed, but the ship was beautiful and service was great. We had received a free dining upgrade so we had specialty dining for dinner each night except one evening when we didn't feel like dressing and that night we just snacked. We ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet and thought the food was good. The specialty dining was excellent, particularly Cagney's Steak House - so good we ate there twice. The food at the French restaurant was tasty, but our server was really snooty. Seriously? At first I thought it was a joke - you know, the whole French snootiness thing, but no, he was like that throughout the meal. It really colored our experience. Other than him and one of the guys at the pool handing out towels, all of the crew members were great. The guy at the pool (we called him the towel nazi), was just plain rude. They are very strict about the towels - you have to bring the beach towel from your room, and to get a dry one, you have to exchange it. If you happen to leave your towel on a chair and it's gone when you come back, good luck getting another one. This happened to me, and the towel nazi basically refused to give me one. I had to basically beg him for one. Be warned.

The entertainment was good - especially Million Dollar Quartet, which was wonderful. We also liked "Burn the Floor" and the Imaginarium, although we didn't eat there (it's a dinner show, but we had specialty dining that night). I wish that were a free show, because although it was good, I really didn't like paying for it. The worst thing about the auditorium is the seats. There is a weird bar running across the back of the seat bottom cushion and it is unbelievably uncomfortable. I can't imagine what the manufacturer was thinking when building them. I hope they replace them before we go on the Breakaway in June 2018, because I would guess they are the same on both ships. We had a large picture window cabin, and it was nice. There was plenty of room for our clothes and the bed was comfortable. Our friends paid extra for a balcony, and they thought it was worth the extra money.

Our excursions were fun - snorkeling in Roatan and Mexico, and para-sailing in Belize. although I wouldn't do the para-sailing again, just because the time you are up is so short, and the rest is spent in the boat while the other passengers sail. I had no idea the water in the Atlantic would be so warm, but it was great. Being from Arizona, we are used to really warm pool water, and I've become quite the wimp to swim in anything less than 78 degrees, but I had no problem at all while snorkeling. We booked our excursions through the cruise line, and had no issues at all. The snorkeling in Roatan was my favorite - we went out in a catamaran, snorkeled, and then ate lunch on the boat. I loved it, but would have liked to have spent more time in the water and less time on lunch. But the crew was great and made it a lot of fun.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

The cabin was nice. Plenty of room for clothes, the bathroom wasn't too cramped, and the bed was really comfortable.

Port Reviews

Miami

Embarkation was fine.

Harvest Caye

Pool was beautiful. Too bad the restaurant charges, and we heard it wasn't very good. We went parasailing and then back to the ship for lunch.

Costa Maya

We just shopped in this port. Shopping is always fun!
