We take an annual February cruise since it is our son's winter break from school. This was our 5th carnival cruise and 8th overall. It was also our very worst cruise experience. This ship, was going into a two week dry dock after our cruise which no one was informed about. We were also not informed that the aft pool and only slide would be out of commission and be worked on while we sailed. They not only cut off a third of the lido deck from a seating standpoint they cut off a good portion of the serenity decks as well. There was hammering, sawing, drilling and all sorts of noise going on constantly. The were doing "dry dock" work throughout our cruise in all areas. After constantly complaining I received a case number and was told the HQ would deal with the issue once the cruise was over.

The people working on this ship were excellent as were the four ports we visited. The boat, was old, vibrated terribly and in sore need of the dry dock. Why we were not informed prior to our cruise about these conditions is a black mark on Carnival I will not soon forget.

After the conditions were publicized upon our return by a local Florida news station, Carnival decided to offer us all a 25% refund and a 50% discount on a future cruise. This was not nearly enough based on the loss of "fun" with all the construction and noise.

Balcony

Cabin 8B

This is a standard balcony stateroom with a great location to the stairs. We like deck seven since it is two decks up to the lido and two decks down to the casino, shops and shows.

Port Reviews

Miami

We stayed two nights prior at the Winter Haven Autograph Collection hotel in South Beach and had an absolute blast. Right across the street from the beach and smack in the middle of all the action this hotel was excellent and highly recommended.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

This Carnival built port has everything you could want right at the port's terminal. There is a swim up bar, zip lines, pools, chairs, umbrellas all readily available. We truly enjoyed this port.

Grand Turk

Everything you could want is right off the pier in this port with Margertiaville being the host. Free wifi, swim up bar, flow rider, contests etc. We grabbed a few of the complimentary chairs and umbrella by the beach as our base camp and wandered all around the area. This was a very enjoyable port with little shopping stalls all around as well.
