We chose this cruise to the southern Caribbean to escape the winter in MD. The itinerary included Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao as well as three other ports on the 10-day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale. We did not eat in any of the speciality restaurants. There were 2 "gala" nights that most passengers dressed up for. We didn't, and went to the buffet instead. Entertainment was nothing special, in my opinion. Piano players/singers were better than other entainers, but played too loud, drowning out their voices (maybe intentionally).
Food was typical in the dining room; pasta, chicken, steak, fish, vegan and some other entrees. HAL adds $12.50 per day, per person for tips. However you can adjust this amount by filling out a form at reception, without a nasty glare or comment. Library was eliminated on this ship (Koningsdam).
Shore excursions were purchased from 3rd party vendors before leaving home. In most ports, there were plenty of vendors selling tours on the spot.
Cabin was small compared to other cruise lines. Had a small fridge which we used for our sodas. Nice large shower with glass wall/door, not the pesky curtain. Reasonably good TV reception most of the time. Heard some noise in the hall but almost no noise from the adjoining cabins.
