First time on the Regal, and it was a mixed trip for the two weeks. Weather was not bad, but due to head winds, very windy. As usual, we had very friendly service from the bartenders to the deck hands, one reason we stay with Princess now. We took this trip because it was East and West Caribbean, and I wanted some snorkeling time.

Embarkation was fast, hit the front at 12:30 and was on the ship by 13:00. Leaving was typical Princess, but went smoothly since we hung out at the Buffet and then went down after our block and just walked off.

Some of the things we did not like were:

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BB

Typical "cheap" balcony room and we were away from that silly sky walk line of sight

1. Lights in the room require you to use your card to ensure the lights are off when you leave. 2. Showers are extreme low flow, takes 15 minutes to just get the soap out of your hair, how does that save water? 3. Beds were very worn and saggy. 4. Thin walls, the wall mounted TV’s in the next room over is easy to hear. 5. The TV programming is worse than the west coast ships we have been on, everything seems to be pre-recorded instead of live (no food network or cooking channel this time for the wife). 6. Closet light tied to main room overhead light, not good when one trying to sleep and the other is trying to change clothes. 7. Shower head looks like an after thought since the fitting does not fit correctly to rotate the head, but it does go up and down for different height folks.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We spent two nights at the Marriott Cruise Port Residence Inn, loafed around and went to a used book store before boarding. We spent the night after the cruise, and the weather was rainy and cold so nothing done then. During the first in-port walked to the store and bought water, nice area to walk in compared to LA and Seattle.

Princess Cays

Ok, nice folks, but the water was kind of murky.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

"Turtle Farm, Hell, Tortuga Rum Cake & Scenic Drive" Wife liked it.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

"Reef and Shipwreck Snorkel & Scenic Cruise" Just off the coast where the cruise ships dock. Friendly folks, but the dive was not what you see in the pictures, just OK.

"Turtle Farm, Hell, Tortuga Rum Cake & Scenic Drive"

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

"Turtle Farm, Hell, Tortuga Rum Cake & Scenic Drive" Wife liked the dolphins and turtles

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Amber Cove. A walled community mainly focused on sales. Has free/tipped pedicab service to the end of the pier. Food and Drink $$. Pools and loungers free, shade $. Water slide free, zipline $. Beach outside of wall, maybe. Recommend walking up to the bar on the hilltop and looking closely at the flora on the way up. Having a buddy system where one person watches the clothing and stuff and the others play helps.

Grand Turk

Walked out and looked at the Friendship 7 (John Glenn) and space capsule display. That gave one more star even if it was small.
