I chose this cruise on Majesty of Seas over the Disney Dream because the total price for Majesty was less than the price for one person in the lowest category of interior cabin on the Dream. I have cruised on the Disney Dream and knew what I was missing, but wanted an inexpensive getaway over President’s Day weekend. Having said that, I went in to this experience with very low expectations, knowing Majesty was a very old ship with mixed reviews. I’m a frequent cruiser, but really don’t have any brand loyalty. I have cruised the most on Carnival.

We flew in to MCO Thursday night and stayed at LaQuinta near the airport. It had a free shuttle and was relatively cheap. I probably would not stay at this hotel again, but it served its purpose for a night of sleep. I booked Cortrans shuttle and they were prompt in picking us up at the hotel at 10:15. I have used them several times in the past and will continue using them. We got to Port Canaveral around 11:15 and there were no lines to check in. They were selling drink packages in the terminal before you got on the ship, which I found interesting. We were on the ship by 11:30 and we headed to Windjammer to eat lunch. I found the buffet more plentiful then Carnival’s, however the poolside food on Royal is nonexistent, which is a major negative for me (we spend most of our time poolside). The single ice cream machine by the pool bar was not open 24 hours and was broken or shut off at various times. My only purchase for the weekend was an overpriced beer ($7.25 after my lame platinum discount) and the Freestyle Coke cup.

There were plenty of people who took advantage of the drink package, and I found this short 3-day cruise comparable to the 3-day cruises I have taken on Carnival. There were a lot of intoxicated people and always very long lines at the bars. I don’t have a problem with this at all, and did not really witness any unruly behavior, except the usual 2-3AM drunks running down the halls. We travelled with a child, so we were not interested in making this a “booze cruise.”
