We chose this cruise to take a break from winter. Boarding went smoothly and efficiently. Once in our cabin we met our steward. Muster was done well and we enjoyed sail away.
The cruise was rather low key and the food was a disappointment. It seems fewer courses were offered in the dining room compared to previous cruises. The entertainment was enjoyable and appealed to a variety of tastes. For some, the Art Auction may be the highlight of the cruise but a cruise ship in my opinion is not the venue to auction off works of art valued at $229,000.00, a reputable art dealer in a major US or European city would seem more appropriate. Shopping on the ship is geared towards passengers with very deep pockets. We had visited St Maaten and St Thomas in a previous cruise and was not impressed with Puerta Plata in the least as li looks like it was built in a dump site. Access to the pools was limited as it was always crowded and difficult to obtain a lounge chair.
The quality of the food was real let down. On two occasions, once at lunch and once in the dining room the food was not fully cooked.
Clean and comfortable.
Amber Cove is not as nice as Princess Cays. The trip into Puero Plata was a waste of time and money. Puerto Plata on the outskirts looks like it was built in a city dump.
If you were interested in jewellery it was OK. Went to a tablecloth store which we had been to on a previous cruise.
We had been there and took an excursion on a previous cruise so just wandered around looking at the shops. Once again a lot of jewellery stores.
