This ship was updated in the summer. Lipstick ? I have been on this ship 4 previous times. Plus several others. Theater has new seats and new decorations. It looks good. Dining areas have been re-floored, painted, new chairs, dubious artwork. The Venetian MDR looked better before.
Now this is odd. I was on this ship Feb 2016. A balcony cabin. At New Orleans I watched divers load their gear onto the ship. Going down the Miss and day at sea. We could hear definite metal clanking and banging. Docked at Cozumel the divers went into the water. In fact we left there late as the diver were not done. The rest of the cruise, no more noise. Now back to the present. trip down the river, and into the gulf noisy. the same noise. Had this all during the first sea day. While at Cozumel. Yes the divers go into the water gain. No clanking, banging noise for the rest of the cruise. Hmmm..... stabilizer problems ?
There was some plumbing issues. On first day another guest down my hall had a toilet overflow, room flooded. A few days later I saw crew with wet vac cleaning another cabin. A couple of times the public toilets backed up, and spilled onto floor.
This used to be a quiet cabin the ship. I have been on this 4 times previously. Now it is noisy from above. Chairs scraping across rough tile floor in buffet is the problem. Noise comes around deck 11 from 12 via the outside framework. Leaving balcony door open was really noisy. Of course the buffet is open from early say 5 30 AM till 11 PM or so. Just being in the cabin at times was nerve grating. I had to just leave at times.
I even got a pool area chair and slid it across the floor. It had some hard rubber feet on it. It made greatly less noise than the bare wooden leg of the buffet room chairs. Hotel director told me they had 1,000 chair feet ordered.
If not for the foul up during the update putting rough texture tile floor in buffet. This would have been a quiet cabin.
Bedding has been changed. Generally comfortable. New carpet looks good. As usual for NCL on the small side. Only 1 AC outlet. Another in the bathroom for shaver.
Always a busy city. Lots to do here.
Something for everyone here.
Not much for a retiree like me to do here.
go shopping, or Mayan ruins like Chachoben, or just lay on the beach at Mahahaul.
