This was the second leg of our back to back. The first leg had been on the Norwegian Epic. We liked the Sunshine a lot and had a really enjoyable trip. The ship was pretty. I did not think it showed it's age and I thought the Serenity area was really nice. We had an interior room and after seeing how the Epic was set up for rooms, I MUCH preferred the Sunshine's set up although I'll admit, I've had some nicer rooms on other Carnival ships. The cruise director Emma is really enjoyable and her assistants are also very good.

I wasn't quite as happy with the set up for omelets in the morning as you had to go to the back and there was quite a line up at times, but the cooks were really good. The food was fine on our cruise. No complaints. The entertainment was fine but there was an area that I felt the Epic outshined the Sunshine. I wasn't as satisfied with the comedians this week as I have been I have been on other Carnival cruises. The piano bar was always packed and when we went there I could tell he was a good piano bar host, but we actually prefer to listen to other bands so we can dance. There were several good bands on this cruise. There are a couple of spots that sort of get blocked for a minute as people try to go though but it wasn't bad.

Our itinerary was Grand Turk, San Juan, St Kitts and St Marteen. All the stops were fun and we had no problems. We did not schedule any excursions with Carnival. We had been to all the locations several times except for St Kitts. We got off and found an inexpensive excursion that showed us all we wanted and then went to the beach for a while. It was just my wife and I on this cruise. I would have no problem using the Sunshine again although it is not my favorite ship. Give it a try and I hope you have a great cruise. Embarkation and debarkation went fine for us.

Port Reviews

Grand Turk

We just got off, set at the beach most of the time and then went into the Margaritaville for a while.

San Juan

We like to just walk around and look at the sights and then stopped at a sidewalk cafe for a drink.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We did a private excursion that we found afteer getting off. It was only $25 each and lasted about 4 hours as they drove us to several locations. There was an extra $6 fee to get into a fort which was well worth it.

St. Maarten

We get off and walk to the beach. For $20 we get an umbrella and 2 beach chairs plus 4 drinks. We had a good time.
