This is our second cruise with Princess, having sailed this itinerary 4 years ago on the Sapphire Princess. Seas were a little rough getting out of San Pedro, but by day 2, things had calmed. Ruby Princess is a bit smaller and and older than Sapphire, and it did show. We had a balcony stateroom and one of the first things my husband noticed was a crack in the balcony above us and paint chips on our balcony. Otherwise, our cabin was fine and very comfortable. The staff also replaced several pieces of worn deck carpeting during our trip and I notices some broken tiles and wobbly tables on deck.

Dining was good for the most part. The line for Anytime dining in the Michelangelo dining room was very long however. The later seating seemed better for that. We really enjoyed the Crown Grill, and found that meal excellent. We also sprang for the $40 cover to try Curtis Stone's Share restaurant. While beautifully prepared and very tasty, neither of us really found it to be worth the cost. We would likely not dine there again. Overall we felt the buffet was a solid option when other venues were too crowded. I think they could use another dining room option or better availability for Anytime dining.

Puerto Vallarta was lovely as always and we enjoyed the long port time. We both felt the time in Cabo San Lucas was too short, as we had to be back to the tender by 1 o'clock. We found service on the ship to be good, although the upstairs Tradewinds bar closed very early, sometimes by 5.

Port Reviews

Puerto Vallarta

PV is beautiful. We enjoyed strolling and shopping along the Malecon. It was nice to have a long day in port, returning to the ship at 8.

Cabo San Lucas

Cabo is fun with lots to do, but we didn't have long enough.
