Chose this cruise because of the itinerary and wanted to sail on the Carnival Vista. Embarkation went smoothly. Liked having key cards at the mailbox by the cabin door. We had a Havana Suite. The room was spacious and divided between the bedroom and living area and nicely appointed. The bathroom was the nicest one we've had on a Carnival cruise. Two sinks, a shower with a seat and a few nice amenities: special shampoo, bath gel and lotion.
Ship was nicely appointed. Especially liked the layout of Deck 5, with the restaurants and bars. Enjoyed the ever changing atrium. Made for some interesting pictures. The entertainment was good. The theater not so much. Too may areas where you couldn't see, especially from the balcony.
Service quite lacking. Very surprised that the service in the main dining room was so poor. Took forever to get extras: sour cream, cheese, etc. for baked potato; salad was served before appetizer. Waiter always seemed harried. Lack of service in Lido since my last cruise on Carnival 2 years ago. Only saw the cart with refills for coffee and juice once and ate breakfast on lido 6 days out of 8.
Our cabin was nicely appointed. Loved the Havana decor. The bathroom was wonderful. So nice to have a shower that doesn't give you claustrophobia. And the seat was a nice touch as well as the extra amenities: shampoo, bath gel and lotion. Also enjoyed the better quality towels.
Liked having a little separation between the bedroom and the living area. Only complaint was that the couch extension made it impossible for one person to sit at the desk and the other person be able to maneuver around them.
The swinging chair on the balcony was extra special for me. Could go out at anytime and swing away with the breeze. Did miss a little that I didn't have the ocean view right outside the balcony. The walkway did keep the view from being good.
Spent time at the beach.
