I must say, as an avid and loyal cruiser with Royal Caribbean, I was never disappointed until I sailed on Liberty this month. I found RC seems to be following the industry standard of cutting back on services for loyal cruisers, which maximizing their profits. I am thinking maybe it's time to try another cruise line?
We sailed out of Galveston. If you never sailed out of Galveston, it's NOT a convient port for out of the area travelers. We drove there from Longview TX in a rental car. Be prepared to wait a very long time if you expect to get picked up at your rental car location and need transportation to the port. The city of Galveston only allows taxi's who are registered in their city to transport anyone. So you may wait an hour or two for a taxi. Once at the port, prepare yourself for an unorganized mess, and good luck finding someone to help give you answer. There is a huge lack of security at the port. Anyone can just drive right up to the cruise port with no ID. Once inside the cruise terminal, the crowds will overwhelm you. Thank god we didn't have to wait in the enormous long line. Being a Diamond member, and a suite guest was the one saving grace.
Boarding the ship was easy, and fast once we were through the gate. The one thing I didn't like was being hawked by the specialty resturant employees while trying to eat in the windjammer. We were approached by 4 different people trying the get us to book a dinner. Can we just enjoy a lunch first? Big turn off.
Went to the beach...it was nice
