This was our 7th cruise with Royal Caribbean. We booked this cruise last January onboard our previous cruise. Unknown to my wife, I upgraded the room from a Junior Suite to a Grand Suite. Well worth the investment. We choose this cruise to get out of the cold northeast in January. Also the 10 day early January itinerary had a minimal amount of small children onboard.
Embarkation was a breeze. There were dedicated security and check in lines for Suite and Pinnacle guests. We bypassed the long lines and were onboard about 15 minutes after our cab dropped us off at the port.
Overall we found the Serenade of the Seas in very good condition and well kept. The common areas were clean and well maintained.
Cabin 1034 was excellent in our opinion. It was very large, clean and showed little to no wear. The double sinks in the bathroom were very convenient for the two of use. The large balcony with two lounges was nice for afternoon naps or just relaxing. Overall we loved the room and have booked another Grand Suite on our next cruise with Royal Caribbean.
Nice tour around the area. Several stops for photos.
Pushy shop keepers and vendors. After a short time we returned to our ship. Not one of our favorite ports.
Took 3 hour cab tour around the island. Nice and informative. Many stops for photos. Very informative driver. I would, however, probably go alone next time or with my own group if you have one. We travelled with others we did not know and sometimes were out voted on stops we wished to make and, therefore, missed a few things we wanted to see. Otherwise it was a excellent tour.
Went to the pool at Palm Court Gardens. Highly recommend it. Peaceful, pool day with limited people and nice pool overlooking the harbor. Drinks and lunch available for reasonable prices. Beautiful garden area on location.
