The propulsion system went out after we left Melbourne and were on our way to New Zealand. We were adrift in the winds for almost 24 hours before tug boats arrived to tow us back to Melbourne to have the problem fixed. But you know,....even though we we lost the opportunity to visit the New Zealand ports that were on the itinerary - it just became more of a on board adventure! Norwegian staff kept us informed and provided us with a 100% immediate refund for the entire cruise, as well as a 50% discount for our next cruise! We've already booked the same cruise for next year, because the other 50% covers the cost of the plane tickets! Overall, the trip became more of a cruise, a relaxing adventure like a transatlantic cruise. And with given the option of Norwegian willing to pick up the cost of flying ahead to Auckland - we decided to enjoy the Melbourne area and make the best of the situationl Would we do it again? In a heartbeat! It was a free cruise, with another one coming up!

9 cruises,....5th time in a row on a Norwegian cruise: 2 times to Alaska, the Mediterranean, Central America, and this one - Australia/New Zealand. Enjoyed every one of them, and much prefer "freestyle" crusing over the other cruise lines!
