This was our third cruise (my wife's fourth) on NCL, and we are great fans of the freestyle approach that offers flexibility and convenience in dining selections.
For us, the larger the ship the better! Not that we enjoy crowds, but we have learned larger ships have more dining/lounge options that avoid repetition. We also enjoy long days at sea, as well as shore excursions where everyone goes ashore but us! Most of our experience has been a "cruise to nowhere" in which the itinerary is not the objective -- just the unconnected solitude.
The highpoint of our experience was our steward, Angelo. He was attentive, friendly, courteous, and unquestionably willing to satisfy every service request. He even demonstrated how to may a "towel animal" when we had neglected to set the "make up room" signal the night before.
