Sail Date: Feb 2017

My husband and I sailed on the Carnival Sunshine in February 2017. This was our 4th Carnival cruise and 9th cruise overall. Was this our best cruise? No. But it is very hard not to have a good time on a cruise. We found it relaxing and the weather was perfect. Always great to get away from New England in the winter.

We had no problems with embarkation or disembarkation. Both moved very quickly. For the first time we booked the transfers through Carnival and it worked out well for us. Our balcony cabin was fine. The bed was comfortable and the room steward did a good job. The only issue was the shower curtain didn't go all the way to floor so the water went all over the bathroom floor. Not sure why they have curtains like that.

We went to the dining room for the first few nights. We had anytime dining and we always request a large table to share so we can meet other guests. However, we had a hard time doing that. We sat by ourselves the 1st night and the 2nd night firmly requested a large table to share and we were put at a table for 10 people and no one ever joined us. So, to say the least, we looked ridiculous sitting at this large table by ourselves! Even the waiters were joking they would join us for dinner. We have never had a problem like this on other ships so I'm not sure why it happened on this ship. We finally gave up after a few nights and ate at the buffet for the rest of the trip. But, the buffet also had issues. It was closed a lot. When it closed, everything closed. Meaning you couldn't get a dessert or salad or anything. There was always pizza available and Guy's Burgers was great. Guy's was open 12-6 and there was always a line. Great burgers!
