This was only the second Celebrity cruise we've taken, the first being many years ago, and we think they have lived up to their 'Modern Luxury' slogan. We were in a balcony stateroom, #8129 port side, forward on Deck 8 and it was a good location for getting around. We ate in the main dining room every night, and saw no reason to pay extra for the signature dining as the food and service were excellent. We had the Premium drink package (upgraded from Classic when we boarded) and were generally pleased with that decision because we loved the Martini Bar. Our friends stayed with the Classic and were also very happy with the offerings so it depends on what you like to drink.

Everything about the service on-board was excellent, and the ship itself was pristine and well maintained. Cabin service was top notch and unobtrusive, all the entertainment was fun, and the pool and deck areas comfortable. Boarding and disembarking were handled well, with a bit of a wait at the end of the trip, but that seemed to be due to a problem in the terminal with an escalator. One big plus for Celebrity, the stop in Labadee Haiti at their private beach was very well handled! Having your drink package available on the beach was wonderful. (Be aware, it is a very rocky beach though so bring water shoes.)

Some minor criticisms: All of the shore excursions offered seemed to be very pricey. We had been to most of the ports before and only left the ship once, but compared to our other cruises the prices seemed very high. The same goes for Internet access. The only package we were offered was for the whole trip at $225, until the last day when it was $25 for an hour to make airline or other arrangements. There was also a very limited amount of smoking areas given the high percentage of European travelers. We heard them complaining about that a lot.

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah 1B

Very up to date amenities, large bathroom, and a wonderful shower. There was plenty of storage for two people for a week, and everything was spotless. Daily maintenance was always prompt and the stewards were very quick to respond to any special requests. Balcony is small but adequate, and if you are traveling with adjoining friends you can have the divider folded back to provide access on the balconies.
