We’ve always wanted to visit Australia and especially the Great Barrier Reef. Choosing a cruise makes it easy to see the places you really want to see without having to drag your luggage around with you and pack and unpack. We chose this particular cruise because it was one of the few cruises that actually visit the Great Barrier Reef.
This was our fourth cruise, but our first with Celebrity. Our previous cruises were with Royal Carribean and Princess Cruise Lines.
The facilities and service on Celebrity were definitely a notch above the rest, but there’s still room for improvement.
Cabin was spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We especially loved the roomy bathroom with the rainfall showerhead.
Plush towels and bathrobes were provided in the room but no slippers!
The room was also supposed to come with an extra hand held hairdryer, but apparently this is on request only. i.e. if you request one, one will be brought to you.
We took the shuttle into town, and then the hop-on-hop-off bus around Darwin. We returned to town to shop and have lunch then took the return shuttle back to the ship.
There was plenty of time to explore the town safely on your own and it can be done at a much lower cost than that incurred by using the cruise line tours.
We arrived in Sydney the day before departure and chose to explore on our own. We took the hop-on-hop-off bus as well as the ferry to Darling Harbour.
We loved the Darling Harbour area. It was a beautiful, vibrant area with lots of shops and restaurants right on the waterfront. I'd definitely stay in this area next time we are in Sydney.
