Sail Date: Jan 2017

We have sailed in the Caribbean on the celebrity equinox for the last two years , with a med thomson cruise on the majesty in between. We were disappointed with the Down turn in service and food quality on the equinox last year and after a great last min holiday on the majesty in 2015 we decided to give thompson a go for our main holiday. We were not disappointed and had a great holiday.

Flight: we flew direct to Barbados on the Dreamliner, it really does reduce jet lag and the flight was great. Lots of leg room . However I will consider upgrading to premium next year purely as there are not enough toilets in economy with long queues and on the flight home a bit of a chemical toilet pong which was unpleasant. One bug bear I do have is that thompson airlines do not offer decaffinated drinks on board ( tea/coffee) so having a caffeine allergy I was limited to hot water if I wanted a hot drink.. I solved this on the return flight by taking some fruit tea bags, however they would cater for me if I was vegetarian.

The main advantage here was not having to deal with the horror that is Miami airport.

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside

The cabin was very spacious and comfortable. No noisy air conditioning and kept very clean. Bathroom was more than adequate with a great shower and lots of storage. We were not able to book a balcony however we did not miss it as plent of deck space, I particularly liked deck 4 rather than the higher sun decks as less crowed. We had a porthole rather than a window which was a little disappointing, however we found that we didn't really use it to the point of having booked an inside cabin for our next cruise. A word of caution re cabin 200. It is above the thrusters so you do get woken early as the ship is docking, this is the second time this has happened to us so we have rebooked an allocated cabin in the mid ship region next time.

Port Reviews

Aruba

Lovely island . We had a long time in port so had a wander and then joined a taxi based excursion from the port. $20 each and we saw all the highlights of the island including the Rock formations which were amazing.
