Following a week in the Florida Keys, this Reflection sailing fit in very well with our schedule. After a pleasant drive from Marathon, we were able to drop our rental car and still have plenty of time to get to the ship. Embarkation was one of the best I have experienced. Slightly over a half hour "door to door". The only other Celebrity ship I have been on is the Summit. While the Reflection is much newer and in some ways nicer ship than the Summit, I think purely from a size perspective I prefer the Summit size boat. 2000 versus 3000 passengers that is. At one port we were beside the Oasis of the Seas. With 6000 on board I would guess that you would need to get up at 4am to secure a lounge chair by the pool. On the Reflection the same prevails, at least on sea days. Chair Hogs arrive early, stake out their chairs and disappear for hours. At some point I would think that the cruise lines would realize they are annoying more passengers by allowing this practice to continue than they would if they enforced the policy.

Regarding food, we had select dining. Unlike on some prior cruises, we tended to go to dinner at 5:30 because we learned that at 5:30 we could get a table for 2 by a window. Any time later, you can request a window but you get what is available. Request "Alexander By The Window" on the port side of deck 4. Opus food was quite good if not memorable.

The Lawn Club. On the first night Celebrity was offering 30% off specialty dining so we opted for The Lawn Club. I would not pay extra again for this at 70% or 100%. Very limited menu along with a self-serve salad bar.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah 1A

Cabin 1A

Interesting that in prior reviews some think storage in the cabin is great and others feel it is marginal. I am in the average at best category. My last cruise was on a 12 year old Princess ship that had more and better arranged storage.

To me, the wall which you face while on the bed looks like something from a single-wide trailer.

The bathroom was fine and the shower was outstanding for a cruise ship.

Our cabin was on the indent where the forward "bump" of cabins receeds to the mid-ship cabins, so the view was great from the deck. Celebrity is being cheap by not providing foot stools for the deck chairs.

Port Reviews

Labadee

Very pleasant. Nice beaches. Zipline looked interesting. But $99 for one ride seemed a little steep.

With "Walls" being in the news, felt a little guilty being behind a wall where we couldn't get out and Haitians couldn't get in.
