We have sailed on Carnival, NCL and Princess in the 15 years. We thought we would try RCL and the Jewel because we loved the itinerary going to the Southern Caribbean. We were really let down by most things related to the ship. As you've likely seen on many Jewel (and RCL) reviews the food is just bland. We never thought it was horrible but nearly all meals were just blah. The service in the MDR was actually pretty good. Our best meal was in Imuzi Sushi. We had some really good rolls and the miso soup.

The embarkation was very nice and I suspect our timing was good since there were very few people in the terminal waiting to embark.

The Solarium was a nice area but usually at capacity. The bar here and all the other areas were under-staffed. One bar tender and 3-4 people waiting for a drink was the norm.
