We just returned from the 6 day cruise of the Western Caribbean and overall, it was another great trip. The biggest disappointment was embarkation - which took us longer than ever, even though we had priority status. Over 45 minutes in line; that was much longer than when we boarded the Harmony, an even larger ship. On the other hand, disembarkation (walk-off) was a breeze.

The service on board was exceptional - particularly our cabin stewart and our waiters in the main dining room. I feel that the area of entertainment is where Royal Caribbean shines best. Although there was no main musical, the production shows were incredible and so were the other featured performers. On a related note, I would like to see a better selection of movies both in the cabin and on the big screen, and I do not like the fact that if we want to watch a recent movie in our stateroom, it costs $12.00. I am used to Princess where there are many current movie titles available for free.

Freedom's Cruise Director was one of the best ever, but he has now moved on to the Voyager of the Seas. We did not do any excursions in the first two ports, but did take the Catamaran Sail and Snorkel in Costa Maya, which was fabulous. Do not expect a fancy catamaran here. It is not big and there is no downstairs, but it does the trick. There is ample shade and the guys are great. The sail to the reef took about 45 minutes, but it was a very pleasant ride as we had perfect weather. When at the reef, we went with the guide Luis, as they had broken us into two groups: one for novices and one for experienced snorkelers. Luis took us for an hour snorkel around the reef and it was awesome. He was terrific, showing us various sea critters and giving us fair warning when we had to navigate through some more shallow areas. After the snorkeling, it was free beer (no rum punch) and a quicker sail back to an area where we picked up a taxi. I would always recommend RC; it was a wonderful getaway.

I love the Promenade view rooms. They are a good size and location for the money.
