The Gem is a really nice sized ship! We still got lost occasionally, but overall you can find favorite spots to call your own without long searches. You see folks you've met and can make friends that way. The Sea days were rough at times, but we Loved them! The crew was helpful, friendly, and fun! The food court food was tasty, but the selection less than other ships for me , but the main dining rooms were great. Love the Pacific dining room view of the stern! Overall the food on the ship is just fine...best croissants in a long time! The activities were plentiful and something for everyone. Our friend got us the Thermal spa package and that was Wonderful! The view is Amazing! We spent a lot of time up there and forgot to go to other activities because we were content. For three people buying the internet unlimited package was smart! The. Room was tight, but our steward was wonderful and we remained content throughout the trip. We were near the stern and found we tolerated the rough seas nicely. The bow got rocked a bit more than we did. We enjoyed each port and would have loved a bit more time in Tortola. I heard from many different passengers that they were dismayed that the Gem is to move next year to New Orleans as larger ships are coming in her place. Hopefully NCL and other lines will keep these smaller ships where you feel like you are part of the ship, not a mob. If larger vessels are coming than Customs will need to expand their coverage. Embarkation was fairly smooth, but adding another 2k to the group will not be good!

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BC

The couch was a bit tired, but they are changing them out this year. The beds were comfortable. We used our balcony a lot. With three adults it was tight at night, but we managed just fine and divided up drawers and shelves. We had the drinks stowed fm the fridge day one so we would have room. The hairdryer is hard wired in an unusual spot, but works just fine. So it's a room like many others and we were very content. Liked being in the stern and near to the elevator. Peaceful spot.

Port Reviews

San Juan

Took the free tram up into old San Juan and wandered back to the ship. Took all day and we saw all kinds of great sites. Beautiful day!

St. Maarten

Shopped , walked and went to the ship to read on the back deck. Mainly because we had spent a week here and we were happy to just take it easy. Saint Martin is a great island and worth going on tours to enjoy..we will go back again.

New York (Manhattan)

Came in a couple days early to ensure we were there for embarking. Had a great hotel on 57th and walked around to see Central Park, and the Roosevelt tram...and had to go into Tiffany and Serendipity for dinner. Big city hard to see much I. A short time.
