We took essentially the same Caribbean cruise on the Silhouette last year. It was so nice, last year, we decided to re-book this year for our winter respite. My husband and I are seasoned travelers and have sampled cruises from -- premium to luxury -- on multiple cruise lines and multiple ships. So far, Celebrity is or favorite brand. Of course, I could go on and on about how lovely the ship is, how the Crew are so friendly and willing to please with no request being too large or too small, entertainment is FAB, food offerings are unbelievable and top quality, AMAZING service, etc., etc. But, what really sets this cruise line apart from the other lines are the -- PASSENGERS!!! The passengers are absolutely Wonderful! For the most part, they're friendly, respectful, and have class. This particular cruise it was a mix of Americans, Canadians, Europeans, and Asians. There was a mixture of age groups, but mostly late 40's+ in age. Everyone was lovely. My husband and I have heard so many HORROR stories from others about their experiences with the "Contemporary Brand" where the passengers were rude and obnoxious. What is most interesting to me is that people who have sailed with what are marketed as less-expensive brands believe they are getting a better price. In reality -- and from my own research -- I don't believe that to be the case. I believe Celebrity is very cost competitive, and that quality is by far superior. There are so many other factors that should be considered when planning your cruise and trying to compare apples to apples: (1) Politeness of your fellow passengers, (2) Cabin/Bathroom Size, (3) Entertainment Offered (4) Offerings to Upgrade (i.e. Wifi, beverage packages, gratuities, shipboard credit), etc. We upgraded to the PREMIUM package including all four categories. Honestly, the only item "missing" once you do that would be shore excursions, and those are reasonably priced with Celebrity. It truly makes the overall experience much more seamless and enjoyable. We have also sailed on what are considered "luxury" ships. Honestly, with what Celebrity offers, it is such a close competitor that it almost meets that standard of service. Having said that, we do prefer the "smaller" ships on the luxury cruises we've taken, but from a price point perspective, Celebrity wins hands down!

POINTERS: Purchase the PREMIUM beverage package PLUS the added Wifi, Pre-paid Gratuities, and Shipboard Credit in advance when available. Book a stateroom on the 7th floor. Mid-ship there is a coffee/tea bar area called the Haven, which is very convenient. I can't recommend this "strongly" enough. The ship offers Valet Luggage at the end of the cruise. It is $25 per bag. It is the BEST thing you will ever do! Trust me! You complete a form with your flight information and turn it into the Guest Relations office. On the last day of your trip, you are provided with your luggage tags, AND your boarding passes. You place out your luggage by 10 p.m., and you won't see that piece of luggage until you arrive at your home base airport. BEST MONEY you will ever spend! It just makes it so much easier with disembarkation. However, there are only certain airlines that participate in this service; I "believe" JetBlue, Delta, American, United, but I'm not sure about the other airlines.
