My family and I chose the Oasis of the Seas because we wanted the opportunity to sail on the worlds largest ship. We learned quickly that large isn't always better. We are well experienced cruisers. We have been on at least 15 cruises. We have cruised with Carnival, NCL, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. This was the WORST cruise we have ever been on.
I will start with some positive things, although they are few. Embarkation was pretty smooth especially with the amount of people on this cruise. Our room steward was wonderful and very helpful. The dining room experience was nice as well (When we could be there). Our waitress from St. Lucia was a sweetheart. A lot of the staff were good.... The guest service staff not so much. Apparently, we were booked in the wrong room. It was too small to accommodate our family of 4. During our booking we told them my 2 yr old would need a crib. The room had a bed and a couch that came out to a bed. Well the crib had to be in the area of the couch so we couldn't pull the couch bed out leaving my 12 yr old without a bed. We could not move in this room. It definitely didn't meet fire safety code as my Husband is a fireman and "said this is completely unsafe." My 2 yr old has Epilepsy and needs frequent naps to prevent seizures. We had to pay an hourly rate in the nursery to give her a nap. We went to guest services over and over again to ask for a larger room. "They said No they had nothing available." Nothing available, but they were upgrading a gentleman next to me. Apparently, safety is not important to Royal Caribbean. Also the $3,000 I spent on our cruise wasn't enough to help us.
Just when we thought things couldn't get any worse My 2 yr old daughter, 12 yr old daughter and myself got the stomach bug on Day 3. We went through having IV's, shots ect.... The worst part was we were quarantined for 4 days out of our 7 day cruise in our shoe box of a room they we couldn't move in. We were treated like we were in jail. They actually had management watching to make sure no one left the room. We were not allowed to get off in Jamaica or Mexico. They also banned us from the main dining room for dinner. We would call room service for ginger ale and power aid. It would take 90 minutes to get drinks even though we were sick and locked in our room.
Shoe Box! Not enough room for our family!
It was a nice island.
