This was our third time on the Equinox and our 12th time on a Celebrity cruise. Needless to say we like these ships and the company. However, there were a few things on this cruise that I wish had gone a bit better. This was our second time in Aqua class (the first was on the Constellation which was retrofitted with Aqua class so the dining room was actually the top right level of the normal dining room. This time we actually had the aqua class restaurant Blu. The service was fantastic but the food was just a bit off. The appetizers were just a bit too exotic for my taste so most nights I simply had shrimp cocktail and a Caesar salad. The entrees were also a bit overboard for my taste and the sirloin steak from the anytime menu was only about 1/4" thick and had no taste. Breakfast was also a hit or miss type situation in Blu. I order the pancakes the first day and they were cold and like rubber. Every egg order were served with a "garnish" of fried mushrooms, asparagus and fingerling potatoes. I do not eat asparagus or mushrooms.

Although I recently read that the ship had been refurbished in 2016, the cabins were certainly not included in this. Our shower doors were broken, the curtains on the veranda doors were the same ones we had in 2009. Our cabin attendant was the most unfriendly one we have ever had on a cruise! We had no "Do Not Disturb" sign in our room and although we asked him for one several times, we never got one. One the previous Aqua class cruise we received 2 bottles of water each day. On this one we received a flask of "flavored" water/tea that was always warm because the ice had evaporated? The afternoon canapés were a joke since they were never "finger" foods but were not served with anything to eat them with? How are you supposed to eat humus without a cracker or piece of pita or bread?

The rest of the ship was in pretty good shape but one thing that really bothered me was they way they handled the sale of Bingo cards. On the first sea day, they had two separate price charts, one showing the price of the cards without a Lotto ticket and the other showing the prices ($10 higher) with these Lotto tickets. There was no description oh how this lotto worked or what the prizes were. On the successive sea days, the price chart WITHOUT the Lotto tickets was gone and they were telling folks that the HAD to buy the Lotto ticket with their package? When I protested, I was sold the Bingo package I wanted without the $10 Lotto ticket. I felt that this was pretty low handed.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Cabin was not what we expected because it seemed a bit shabby and "old". We were expecting better for an Aqua Class A1. The shower doors were broken and the toilet had some issues. Room attendant was probably the worse we have ever had on a cruise. He pretty much ignored us most of the time and rarely did anything we asked of him. We had to call room service at 11:00 PM to get a room service request form. We never got a Do Not Disturb sign although we asked for one a number of times.
