Radiance is a good, well-maintained ship, and the crew mostly does a good job onboard. We enjoyed our time, food and related service were better than good and quite satisfactory. Ports and itinerary were well chosen. Cabin was good (could use more 110 outlets), steward was excellent. There apparently was a very small norovirus outbreak, and the crew went way above and beyond to nip it quickly.
BUT ...
We selected this cruise in part because of its embarkation/debarkation at Circular Quay in the vibrant heart of downtown Sydney. RC chose instead to move us to an industrial warf on the other side of the harbor and tender us to the ship anchored in the bay. All this so they could place their new Quantum ship at Circular Quay. This decision might have been of benefit to the 4000 people on their new boat and their corporate bottom line, but it was terrible for us, and was really a bait and switch. Cost us $150 in taxi fares to get to/from, ands the process was HOT, unorganized, and VERY time consuming. Further ... AND PAY ATTENTION HERE ... RC created a hard wall between its first level people and management that prevented any complaint from being heard, either before, during, or after the trip. That tells me they simply don't care, and that if anything starts to go wrong with your experience, too bad.
Thought it was nice, steward was excellent, needed more AC outlets.
Just wandered around town.
Go ahead and pay for the Maori cultural experience.
Stay in town and take your pick of better activities.
