We absolutely loved Adventure of the Seas Southern Caribbean Cruise B the first week of December! The ship was all decked out for the holidays and dressed in her finest holiday cheer! It was everything and more we were expecting. The cruise cost less than $500 per person and was delightful.
Our cabin steward gave us those most excellent service. We had our room cared for both morning and evening every day. We took at least one shore excursion per day. On day 2 we stopped at Frederiksted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and did a day pass at the quiet Sand Castle on the Beach boutique hotel for $25. Our first day at the beach in the Caribbean was magical. Quiet hotel, less than 20 people on the whole length of beach. Drinks and food were acceptable, but floating on the Caribbean Sea in virtual solitude was so magnificent. Great first experience.
Day two was at Philipsburg, Sint Maarten. Our shore excursion that day was to the butterfly sanctuary and shopping. It was an okay experience. We spent the afternoon on Great Bay Beach. We enjoyed having all of the shops around us for easy food, drink, treat, and shopping access, but the endless hawkers of wares was tiring. You have to try the gelato at Gelateria Milano. Perfect Italian gelato in the middle of the Caribbean!
While small to moderate in size it met our needs and we were rarely there. Every day our room was cared for morning and night. The towel animals really rocked. The shower was just right size. With all of the shore excursions and shows we were there to sleep, get ready and GO.
