We've taken this itinerary many times, so the ports weren't important.....it was 7 days of warmth and sun, away from the NJ winter. We are Captain club Elite, had a Concierge cabin (1207).....quiet, centrally located between the elevators. Over time, I've read many complaints on the degradation of service and amenities on X. I'll dispell some of what I've read.....sparkling wine offered when you board. Concierge embarkation lunch menu is limited, but we found something we liked, and it is very nice to be able to put down your carry ons and be served a meal. Champagne/ sparkling wine in the cabin. It was not on ice, but the room attendant iced it when we requested.....and she kept re-icing until we finished it a couple of days later. Chocolates on the pillow every night. A small vase of fresh flowers arrived the second day. Fruit in the room, and changed out mid week. The afternoon canapés have in my opinion improved. No need to fill out a form each day.....they were delivered each day between 3:30 and 4:30. There were 4 items, usually a few olives, something sushi, a piece of cheese, a small dolup of hummus, a shrimp, prosciutto and melon, etc.....nothing massive, but a few tasty morsels to take off the edge.

We ate all dinners in the main dining room, I thought the food was generally good (but food is so subjective, one person's yummy is another person's icky). I did think the dessert choices have been reduced, usually only 2 per night, plus the 4 or so "classics" (cheesecake, apple pie, chocolate cake, etc) Plus their delicious ice cream, which they make on board. We had the classic drink package again. We've usually been satisfied with it and again it didn't disappoint.

They have removed single malt scotch from the classic, but I was happy with Corona, Heineken, or a G&T. And we found some wines that we liked. Our sommelier was great, she offered a few red and white choices, and never let a glass get empty. We always had to stop her when we were finished. Also had great beverage service at the pool (servers constantly circulating) and in the bars. So, maybe we're not hard to please, but I think X is still delivering a great product. And I an confident we will be back.
