Our 3rd cruise with NCL, but last one (with them) was 4 years ago. For first-timers, I'm sure everything was probably "wonderful" (as first-timers have no clue to what things were like years ago, and are usually overwhelmed with everything). This being our 8th cruise, we tend to compare and pick apart a few more things. The ship's offerings, for the most part were beautiful, fun, and well-done. Things like the stand-up (and drop) water slides (when not broken), and the ropes course (one of our fav's) were very cool, as was the entertainment (comedy routines, dueling pianos, shows).
The Great:
Cabin was very nice- typical balcony, shower was a nice change (not cramped like usual, but actually comfortable). Lots of little storage niches to put stuff. Comfortable beds and pillows. Good room steward service. Decent balcony depth.
Love Roatan! Go to "Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth hangout" and play with the monkey's and hold sloth's- one of the most fun things ever on a cruise! Great snorkeling right out front too!
Pretty, but pricey and pretentious. No free buffet on land. Captive audience for the ship, with no culture. Don't care if we ever return there.
Take the $2 taxi outside port gate, or $25 ruins tour (outside gate). Town of Mahahual is beautiful, calm, and relatively cheap for the day (although beach food can be pricey). One of our fav's!
Stayed in town, shopped. Cheapest t-shirts (still good quality) and gifts. Nice overall vibe; Coz. has some of the bluest "jewel blue" water we've ever seen- it never disappoints!
