Being from cold and snowy northern Ontario, my wife and I like to cruise in January. Since retiring 7 years ago, this was our 10th one. Once again we had an enjoyable time on the Navigator of the Seas. This was our 3rd time on this particular ship it being the size that we most prefer. This time we decided to try a virtual balcony stateroom. It was good but not as enjoyable as a real balcony. We prefer to eat in the main dining room and were fortunate to be seated with 5 fantastic people at our table. The food was excellent although not quite up to the level as just a few years ago. The service from our waiter and assistant waiter was very good.. We visited Labadee, Aruba, Curacao & Bonaire. Bonaire turned out to be our favorite. If there was anything to complain about it was the constant soliciting of additional services mainly dining at extra cost restaurants although I'm sure that this happens on all ships and all cruise lines. Health permitting, we will be back on a Royal Caribbean ship again next January.
The virtual balcony was better than we expected although we wonder why the screen shows the view from the stern. We kept the picture and sound on all night. Our room attendant was excellent.
We arrived the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. We found this hotel to be way overpriced. Breakfast cost extra. There was no shuttle to the dock. We were told to take a taxi. We previously stayed at the Hilton on Biscayne and that was far superior.
We simply sat in a lounge chair with our feet in the ocean. Nothing better was required or wanted.
Having been in Curacao previously we simply walked downtaown and enjoyed a margarita in a local bar.
We have visited Aruba before and simply walked around town and did some gift shopping.
We simply walked around town and purchased a few things at the local stores.
