Just finished a week on the new Koningsdam. I really was hoping for a fantastic time on the new ship since it was new, but was left very disappointed with this ship. Embarkation took over an hour to board, the longest ever for any cruise I've been on. It seemed that the terminal in Port Everglades was an older terminal and couldn't handle the amount of people boarding. Lines snaked outside before the long lines inside.

The new ship was pretty from the onset and was excited for a great week.

My Oceanview Cabin on Deck 1 was decent in size. The bed excellent as was the air conditioning system. The real mess up was the design of the bathroom. First, I have to say, this ship has the best shower anywhere...a large shower stall with great pressure. The oddest thing was the placement of the toilet. It's at an angle facing the shower stall and you have to sit side-saddle to use it. This was the strangest set up ever and everyone on the ship was talking about it. Our shower stall smelled like cat pee every day. We asked our steward about it and he said that it was drain backup issues and that he'd pour something down the drain to take care of the smell. That never happened. The sink was extremely small as well. It was nice that it was new, but not too functional.

Large Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin C

Toilet at an extreme angle facing the shower and you can not sit on it, but side saddled. Very bad design. Shower stall smelled like cat urine everyday. Bed was excellent and storage was excellent.
