Review NCL Epic Jan 21st – 28th Haven suite 17010 – Ahmad (Butler) Leah (Concierge)
We recently reserved a Haven Suite on the Epic for the January 21st-28th cruise to Tortolla, St. Thomas & NCL’s own private “Great Stirrup Key” in the Bahama’s. We’d had the opportunity to view the Haven area during our last cruise because we were invited to a party being held there. We knew our “next cruise” had to be “Haven or bust”.
The best way I know to describe the Haven area is to picture a small, boutique tropical hotel in the “off season” bolted onto the top of the ship. The Haven is horseshoe shaped, two stories, surrounding a central pool area with 2 hot tubs, wicker lounges complete with towels, pillow and cushions and wait staff. Just off the pool courtyard are men’s and women’s changing rooms which connect with steam rooms and saunas. Most of the time I was able to have the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room nearly to myself despite the Haven being almost fully booked. In addition to the rooms, there is a semi-open air courtyard with tables and bar that serves “pub style” food during the day. Wait staff will bring orders to the poolside for you. Just above the pool is a small open air private sundeck then a small work out room (about the size you’d expect to find in a hotel). OK if all you need is 30 minutes on a bike.
Our room was a 2BR suite. Our daughter’s bedroom was about the size of an “inside cabin” type room, complete with own bathroom, shower, TV, etc. Our bedroom was great, with view through large bathroom through floor to ceiling smoked glass. The living room was ample, with small but sufficient deck and espresso maker.
Concierge service was great. We were escorted directly past mile long lines both to shows and getting off on island stops. Occasionally if we were running late, our concierge would use his special key to prioritize the elevator to get us directly from the 17th to 5th floor for example. We only used this privilege once as we didn’t want to abuse it and ruin it for others. (All Haven keys used to be able to do this … some people “ruined it for us!”)
