Six of us, Canadians decided on this cruise as a February getaway. The cruise ship, The Getaway is the biggest cruise ship we have been on. This was our 17 cruise and 4th time with Norwegian. This was the first time we that we had to pay extra to see shows, order a half decent room service breakfast, or get a lobster tail for dinner. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed the cruise but felt it was too many people. The six of us had lots of fun and laughs, as we always do.
There were 2 shows that were "complimentary" and they each had to run for 2 nights to accommodate all the guests. The theatre appeared smaller than on some other ships that we have been on. We like to eat early, so without a show every night (unless we want to pay for it) the evening was quite long. There is not sufficient seating in the bars for you to have a drink and relax. We could not sit outside some nights due to rainy weather.
The food in the dining room and the Garden Cafe was wonderful and it was nice to have the free drink package. Personally, (I don't drink much) I would have preferred free shows to the drink package. We ended up with an extra day at sea because we could not get into the harbour in Belize. This worked out better as Belize had rain all day and we sailed into beautiful weather as we headed for Mexico.
Cabins were narrow but longer than on some ships. Air conditioning worked only when you were in the room. Your room key had to go into the slot to supply power to the room.
We just walked off and went shopping for an hour.
This is where we got on the ship. Coming down from Canada we always arrive in Miami the day before and stay at a hotel.
