Cruising is going downhill; too many specialty restaurants that you have to pay extra to get into & then pay for your dinner. The price of "Adult beverages" has gone through the roof. Because of these 2 things NCL is now offering dining & beverage packages. Well, just remember the old adage--if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. That being said, the other couple we were traveling with & my husband & I bought both. First of all we made reservations ahead of time (thankfully--if not would have been eating at 9:30). In the past we loved eating at Cagney's Steakhouse as they have the BEST steaks--still do--& lobster. Well, since selling the dining package lobster has been removed from the menu, sooo. Then in some restaurants certain items weren't offered on the dining package. Next was the 2 main dining rooms which are advertised as "complimentary", well, that is not true as there are now several items on the menu that you have to pay as much as $25 to order.
The "adult beverage" package is misleading--you are limited to drinks that cost no more than $15. I know you will think that there is no drink that you will order that can possibly cost that much but remember you are on a ship & most drinks will cost $10-$15. If you order a drink that costs more you have to pay the difference. Also, with the beverage package you can get a soft drink but NOT a bottle of water! There was not the usual attention to detail to the restrooms in the public areas.
We always select an inside cabin as we like the darkness it offers for sleeping & we aren't in it enough to be concerned about lack of windows. We also try to get as close to mid-ship as possible for a smoother ride. Our cabin had tons of hangers, lots of shelves, & ample drawer space. Bathroom was a nice size & especially like the doors on the shower stall.
Walked to one of the forts then aroung town. Wished we would have had more time there to find a tour that would have been of interest to us. those offered by the ship weren't anything we wanted to do, but undersood from locals there are a lot of things to do.
Only stayed in the hotel (Holiday Inn on Westshore Blvd) which is very nice & has a great park & cruise package with free shuttle to & from the ship.
