Embarkation was a breeze. Rom was ready at 1:00. We had a D2 Balcony. The cabin was nothing special. The layout of the closets was not ideal. Storage is very limited. We were on the Anthem and there was twice the amount of storage space for the same size cabin.
The service has slipped some on Royal since my first cruise. On previous cruises the cabin steward would always introduce themselves asking if there was anything we needed. We didnt see our steward until day 2. We had a hump balcony so I asked her if we can have a lounge chair on the balcony, every time I saw her she said she was working on it, it showed up in the middle of day 5.
The specialty restaurants were awesome. We ate at Chops, Central Park 150, Giovanni's table and Izumi Hibachi. All were absolutely awesome food and service. The main dining room was not so good. The food was nothing special, nothing stood out and the service was slow and lacking. Almost every time the orders were mixed up or incorrect. Even one night someone in my party ordered a steak medium well and it was almost raw. She sent it back and asked for it to be cooked properly. The waiter gladly took it but she never received anything back. And dinner was 2+ hours each night. Both times we ate in the MDR we were late for the show.
Nothing special. Decor was boring storage was very limited.
