Another great cruise on Majesty of the Seas! This was my second time on MJS. This was a 'girl's trip'! Sailing with me were my two nieces, 15 & 18, and my friend. My younger niece and I stayed in one cabin and the other two girls were right next door on Deck 5. We had inside cabins, which are small, but there is plenty of storage. There is plenty of room under the beds to put your suitcases. And the beds are soooo comfy! There is also a flat screen tv and a safe in the closet. There were no announcements in the cabins this time. Only the muster drill and departure annoucements. Also, we didn't have to wear our life vests to the drill! We left JFK for Miami on Sunday afternoon and spent the evening in Miami at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. The taxi was about $24 plus tip from MIA. The Holiday Inn is not the best hotel, but for one night plus the location it does the trick. The rooms are kind of old and run down looking, but the beds were clean! There is a new CVS that opened right next door. So we went and picked up toiletries that we didn't want to bring on the plane with us since we took our luggage as carry-ons. Walgreens is still there, but it is a bit further away. The Holiday Inn is directly across the street from Bayside Marketplace. We had dinner at Bubba Gumps, which was alright... There was a band playing and there are tons of shops to visit right on the marina. A nice way to fill the evening before the cruise. Monday morning, we waited infront of the HI for a taxi to take us to the port. Short ride across the bridge and about $10 plus tip. We were at the ship around 10:30. It was still disembarking. Around 11 a.m. we got to go inside.Being a Platinum member we were able to get priority check-in. Which is kind of a joke, because even though we were able to get right up to the counter to get our Sea Pass Cards, we still had to get in line behind everyone else to board the ship and we waited about an hour before the line started to move! But finally, we got our Welcome Aboard Photo taken and we were in the Windjammer having our first lunch! That night we tried My Time Dining for the first time. It worked out well, We had a table for 4 by the window. Our waiter, Ajay, was very nice and we enjoyed our meal. We also went to the Welcome Back Show or Welcome Aboard Show... (I forget what it is called!) It was cute. First Stop... NASSAU. This time, we did not go to the Straw Market. We went last year, and we didn't like it. Too crowded... too many vendors trying to get you to look at their stuff. So after leaving the ship, we hopped in a taxi to Cabbage Beach. We shared a van with a family. $4 per person, plus tip. Cabbage Beach is very nice. There are no facilities though. There are vendors renting umbrellas and chairs, but we turned them down. We just layed on our beach towels provided through the ship. The water was gorgeous. It was warm and crystal blue. We had perfect weather throughout the trip. There are banana boats and waverunners to rent. Last year, the girls did the banana boat, but this year they didn't want too. Alot of young people did the banana boats though. The beach was pretty crowded by noon... mostly cruise ship passengers. There were 4 ships in port that day. Going back to the ship, we just walked down the path to the sidewalk and there are plenty of vans/taxis to take you back. Again... $4 per person. The rest of the day we layed by the pool, then got ready for formal night. Everyone looked really nice that evening. Of course, a few people showed up in the dining room in jeans or shorts... But I would say that 90% of the guests wore formal attire.Second Stop... COCO CAY. I really hoped we would be able to stop here. On my first cruise, we couldn't because of high waves. But last year and this year we were able too. CoCoCay is a really cute tropical island. There is a little straw market there. Plenty of excursions as well. My younger niece and I decided to try the waverunners. Boy... what an experience. It was $129 for the 2 of us. I drove, she was the passenger. Once you get the hang of it, it's alot of fun. But it was a little scary at first. The tour guide takes you out really far into the ocean and then you stop a few times for everyone to catch up. The water and scenery were breathtaking. I'm glad we did it!! Afterward, the 4 of us moved further down the beach past the Ocean Adventure. There are less people there. We layed in the sun drinking our CoCoLoCo's. Yummy!! We didn't have the BBQ lunch though. We were kinda far down the beach. The only thing that upset me was the young kids who were killing the sea life they had found. A bunch of kids found some conch shells with crabs in them and they were smashing them and they were also killing iguanas that were in the trees. I felt so bad.We left on the 2 pm tender back to the ship. Had lunch on Deck 12. Sorrentos and the Deli. Hung around and had dinner. At night we would walk around Deck 7 around 5 times to get some exercise and walk off all the food we ate!Last Stop... KEY WEST. Key West was SO hot. I mean... HOT. We walked around the shops for awhile in the morning and then headed back to the ship around 1 pm. We were going to go to the beach, but decided to sit by the pool and relax instead. We had lunch in the Windjammer, but sat on Deck 12. We also went to see Boogie Wonderland after dinner. What a great show! It was alot of fun. Then we had to pack and get ready for our departure in the morning. We decided to keep our luggage with us, which was just carryons. We had breakfast at 6:30 a.m. in the Windjammer, then picked up our luggage in the cabin and headed to Priority Departure on Deck 4. We were off the ship, once cleared by customs, and in a cab to MIA by 7:30 a.m.!! WOW! One minute we are having breakfast, the next we are already on our way to airport. Cab to airport is fixed at $24 plus tip. We were waiting for our 12 pm flight by 8 a.m. I could've booked the 10:15 a.m. flight!!! But rather safe than sorry. We also printed out our boarding passes on the ship. All in all, this was a really nice cruise. Majesty of the Seas is a really nice smaller ship. Well maintained. Friendly staff. Good food. Although the lemonade is really tart! We watered it down! The frozen yogurt by the pool is a nice treat. We ate ALOT. We never once took the elevators; they were always packed. We took the stairs everywhere. (Made us feel less guilty about all the food we ate) Chairs by the pool were plentiful. We never had a problem. This will probably be my last cruise on Majesty, having been on same itinerary twice. But both times, had a great time. I'll be on Explorer with my husband and another couple in about 10 days... I'll write about that cruise too! Royal Caribbean is the best! Get Out There!
Inside cabin on end. Lots of noise at night with kids running through the halls. Thin walls. You can hear voices next door. Plenty of space inside the cabin for all your stuff. Comfy beds! Temperature in cabin was perfect... you can adjust thermostat. Shower was fine. Strong and hot! Safe inside closet.
