This cruise left out of New Orleans. Embarkation was a little lengthy but not too bad. We were six adults in three cabins all on the 11th floor. Cabins 11628 and 11626 are to be avoided at all cost! They are situated directly below the Garden Café and all you hear all the time is chairs scrapping loudly across the floor- even during the night when they are cleaning the floors. It's enough to wake the dead and I'm a very sound sleeper. The real issue though was a malfunctioning coffee machine directly above the cabins that sounded like a very loud fog horn ALL NIGHT! The staff was made aware of the issue said they had fixed it but didn't do anything. So then they decided they would turn the coffee machine off from 10pm until 6am (no sleeping in for us!) Unfortunately no one could remember to turn it off and a phone call would have to be made during the night - sometimes it got turned off and sometimes it didn't. The best they would do was offer us two free specialty meals. These were upgraded mini suites. Absolutely horrible rooms. This was my 12th cruise and by far the worse room and worse response to an issue from the staff. Supervisors heard this loud noise and offered no solution.
We were a little disappointed in the entertainment aboard. It seemed to be for an older crowd with little to do after 10pm. We noticed even the music playing around the pool was hit or miss. Sometimes there would be a band or DJ but often no music at all. We were unable to get beverage service on deck 13 directly above the pool. Plenty of lounge chairs to sun/read on but we actually had two servers argue in front of us that they weren't going to get us a drink because this wasn't their station. It appeared to be no one's station on any day. It was us going to the bar to get our drinks not a server. There seemed to be an overall feeling of negativity or grouchiness among the crew staff. I had to ask Guest Services three times to post a credit I was due to my room. Even one of the casino dealers apologized for being so quiet -said he was just so tired. Wonder if he had a fog horn in his room?
We were not able to dock at Harvest Caye for a "mysterious blockage in the canal". Yes -that's how it was explained to the passengers. At breakfast cruise staff tried to talk people into getting tendered into Belize instead of staying on the boat but there were few takers.
Absolutely horrible. Between the Garden Café noise and the fog horn sound from the coffee maker it was loud. Not for getting any rest.
We shopped and had a drink while sitting on stools in the community pool.
Love this city! Go to Frenchman's street. Art market at night is wonderful.
