I have taken other cruises and wanted something different and after hearing rave reviews I figured I would try RCC. it could be the ship was older or my expectations were set higher?

the décor of this ship is slightly creepy, not sure if there is a theme, but its a twist between Asian and a carnival funhouse flare, I felt some of the "art" belonged on the twilight zone tv show...the food was nothing special , we found ourselves eating at the windjammer buffet mostly because that my time dining isn't really anytime dining, nor is that menu anything to write home about and I am not picky with my food. I managed to find safe choices to eat at the buffet, I found breakfast to be my favorite meal. the desserts you couldn't really figure out what they were, mousse was more of a gelatin, vanilla cake was like eating pure sugar. also you needed to go around to the back of the buffett find the better choices of food, like fajitas or tacos or the burgers etc...walking right in the choices are not the same. we paid extra one night in the main dining room to have filet mignon, it really wasn't worth it.they charge you to eat at johnny rockets!? the pizza at the promenade snack bar was actually a favorite, as was the coffee there.

embarkation was easy having filled out all the paperwork prior.dropping off the luggage on the pier was a little frustrating as you had one line to drop then another to wait on to board? we had an early flight home and so we took our luggage with us in the morning, that was also a little hard, lines snaking around one floor to the next...eventually we got out in like an hour of the whole process but that needs improvement.

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

i was surprised there was a lot of room and storage. bed was comfortable.once we had our balcony door fixed that was enjoyable. reading lights above the bed were a nice touch. NOT HAPPY that there was no iron or you couldnt get one...you had to send clothes to laundry service if they needed pressing? had i known that i would have made sure to have no wrinkles or packed my own iron as each piece to iron was like $3! kinda a lot...

Port Reviews

San Juan

we stayed the night in san juan. the weather was rainy so we didnt get to enjoy the day before the cruise. we did go out to dinner and to a casino but i dont really care for old san juan.

St. Maarten

we took the water taxi over to the bay beach which would have been okay but it was off and on rain so the day was kind of shot. too many vendors on that beach hassling you to but something or get your feet rubbed. it was hard to enjoy any time in the sun when it was sunny. i would go to orient beach next time, love orient beach!

Aruba

took a taxi to palm beach where our first rip off started, beach chairs rental are one price then you go to pay and its suddenly another...i pay because my mom has a knee problem and we cant walk any further...other people avoided the scam and walked off...i find this a lot in aruba..next time if i have a cruise that goes there i will stay on my ship. i dont feel the people are nice at all. i had to take a taxi back to the pier, and our cab driver was screaming at me because he thought i said i wanted to go to the mall to shop but i said my pier was by the mall and since my mom cant walk we need to be dropped at the pier,he then started to yell at me that i said one thing i need to go shop...i am lucky he will take me to the pier!? on and on....then i pay him, no tip because he was the worst driver and then what he did to me and he flipped out again! i told him maybe if he was a nice person or changed his attitude he would deserve a tip, but thats the tip. i tip good always, even for bad service usually, but when you yell at me and tell me where i am going? then i need to save a few bucks...not a fan of aruba, one happy island!

Curacao

we went on own and used Irie tours for a tour of the island. they were good, it was a nice day. next time i would take a taxi to mango beach? you could spend alot of time there! i wanted to go to punda but didnt get around to it...i went to the renanaissance casino, very nice. lots of shops and things by the pier. i really like this island and would love to go back, the people were very nice , it was fairly clean even though undergoing lots of construction, and it seemed like it had some good nightlife..
