A friend of mine booked a cruise out of Mobile, AL and asked me if I wanted to join her. She drove from GA and I flew to Mobile from MSP. We got a room at the Holiday Inn in downtown Mobile. The first night was $109. We arrived on Sunday and the we were to depart on Monday. Late Sunday night, my friend received word that the ship was experiencing bad weather and was going to be delayed. Carnival did not email me, text me, or call me. If it would not have been for my friend and the other people at the hotel who were sailing on the same trip, I would not have known. My friend, and the hotel received several updates over the next several hours, and I never received one! The last communication was that the ship would not sail until sometime on Tuesday. We needed to book our room for another night. The price jumped from $109 to $229 for Monday to Tuesday for the same room.

On Tuesday morning we found out we could not board until late in the afternoon. We waited in line for 2 hours to go the last four blocks to the cruise terminal to park. We got on the ship a little before 4:00 pm. The rooms were not ready and our luggage was not in our rooms. We went to the bar and wandered the ship. All of the printed scheduled events either were delayed or cancelled and Carnival didn't make announcements so passengers were waiting in line for events that had been cancelled or were running two hours late.

My steward personally introduced himself to me and welcomed me aboard. He was knowledgeable, personable, and provided exceptional customer service. The previous cruise dealt with cold weather, high winds, and 25 foot waves. The crew had just dealt with over 2000 crabby passengers and were now dealing with 2000 new crabby passengers because the trip was delayed and the scheduled events were all messed up. They tried their very best to welcome the passengers, accommodate their requests, and entertain the passengers. They really did a good job.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Cabin 6C

The ship was old, carpeting in my cabin was worn, the toilet seat was losing paint and worn, the curtains were not properly hung and difficult to open and close and my window was filthy and rusted. The bed and the pillows were comfortable, there were three closets and they were a good size. The bathroom was a good size. The room did not come with a hair dryer, but upon request, Patrick promptly delivered one to my room.
