My husband and I went with another couple to celebrate his birthday. We are not new to cruising and I recently cruised with my sister on another Carnival ship. The quality of food on the Valor was poor. The menu was boring and repetitive. The best meal I had was a burger at Guy's Burger Joint by the pool. All of the daily trivia and games were held at The Dream Bar which is in a major walkway next to the casino. If you are not a smoker and have any breathing or allergy problems, you can mark this off of your wish list. The cigarette smoke was horrible. And being in a hallway is not a good place for games. The people walking through shout out answers or the contestants get in their way. The entertainment was so limited that we ended up playing cards 2 nights and watching a movie on 2 other nights. Save yourself a lot of money and book a different ship.
The cabin was small but there was plenty of closet space. The bed was comfortable. The hair dryer was in a drawer in the cabin attached inside and could not be removed. It was very awkward to use because you had to hold the button down to make it blow while you were trying to dry your hair. Also, it barely reached to where you could see into the mirror.
Most of the shops seem to be over priced so we went back to the ship for lunch and enjoyed the hot tub.
Lots of good seafood restaurants here.
