We cruise from Galveston every couple of years because it is easy. Carnival has a good price and we don't care what the itinerary is having been to the places enough times to often not do anything in port. The ship was a nice size, not too big or too small. Embarkation was smooth except that even if you check in early you don't get on the ship before about 12:45 or 1. We checked in at our requested time but no one boarded before 12:45. We were in group 14 so had quite a wait. One very nice woman at check-in helped us find a seat (my husband is disabled) and got us lemonade. Thankfully our cabin was ready when we got on.

It seemed like less crew. It often took awhile for plates to be cleared from tables on the decks. Few people asking if we wanted drinks (never thought I'd actually welcome seeing them as most cruises are overwhelmed with the drink guys). Food was decent in the dining room. We are vegetarian and like the hot soups. Our waiter made sure there was something every night. The veggie burger from Guy's Grill was the BEST on the high seas (and maybe land). Other buffet food was so-so. Usually we eat at the Mongolian Wok but no sauce was vegetarian (why?). Made with just soy sauce the food was bland.

We celebrated our anniversary during the cruise and received a free photo. Unfortunately it was only the small photo so we had to pay a bit for the nice photo of us from our anniversary dinner.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8A

Cabin was standard for Carnival. Plenty of storage. Cabin steward was attentive. On arrival he asked when we liked to have the cabin serviced and whether we wanted turn down service. No amenities. Only shampoo and body wash. I didn't think to bring lotion or conditioner.

Port Reviews

Falmouth

New port and most of the excursions take you to other ports (Ocho Rios or MoBay). Margaritaville in port (TIP: buy a drink and get free internet) plus the normal jewelry stores.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

We've done the excursions so walked around. Port shopping (before entering town) has grown.

Cozumel

Several different piers so can be a long walk to town. Plenty of cabs. Lots to shop and eat if you stay at the pier.
