We went on a cruise with dear friends. We had been on a few cruises before but not on the Carnival Line. The product feel far short of the expectation. We truly enjoyed the shows, the bands and singers. They were all wonderful, talented and amazing. Our servers at dinner were lovely, fun and smart. They remembered our names, what we liked to drink and were a primary reason for coming to dinner.

Things that fell short - the ship is dated, decor is overwhelming and there were many areas that were worn, in disrepair and need of updating. The food was marginal and almost unedible at times. Many of the desserts had no flavor, reminding me of a "morrison's cafeteria". The main dining room did little to impress and the buffet offered some unusual combination pasta salads.

Our stateroom was not kept well, had dirty linens when we arrived and was left completely untouched one day. All of this aside the vacation was okay until you get to the incessant hawking of wares ever step you go on the ship. We went to the spa for a treatment only to get harassed at the end to purchase expensive skin treatments. We walked to the lido deck and were stopped three times - to purchase a credit card, buy more spa stuff or bid on art at auction. Everyday in our mailbox no fewer than 7 flyers on more things to purchase onboard the ship. I truly felt like I was living inside of an infomercial. Like I said we were not new to cruises but nothing like this occurred before.

Cabin Review

Interior

Average cabin, plenty of room. Walls were dirty with stains, closets had dirty linens in them when we arrived.

Port Reviews

Miami

Miami was great. We came in the day before and stayed a day after. Dinner in south beach at CJ's on the strip!!

San Juan

coffee, the fort. easy walking

St. Thomas

walked on the water front walk to downtown. Great food.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

We booked a shore excursion through Iguana Mama in Puerta Plata. They picked us up right outside of the Amber Cove compound. It was great. They offer many options. We did the city tour - cable car, statue, fort, cigar factory, lunch, downtown. Great cultural experience.
