As loyal RCI patrons, we were incredibly disappointed on our return visit to the Jewel. Three years ago, we had a wonderful time- great service, staff, etc. Sadly, this ship and all it entails has drastically gone downhill.

Embarkation went very smoothly, as we arrived around noon and boarded the ship with ease. We were however greeted with many unpleasant faces for arriving early. Throughout our week stay, we discovered many spiderwebs on ceiling/closet/vents, tangles of hair, and a disgusting amount of mold in our bathroom/shower. Our stateroom attendant was very sweet, but old in age and very overworked. There are about 10 TV channels, all of which replay the same shows or movies. It was SO loud in our room with other doors slamming (room 3026), which we never have experienced before. I paid $25 for a celebration birthday cake to be delivered to our stateroom as a surprise for my husbands birthing....not much of a surprise when they plastered a piece of paper to the door on our first night to remind the attendant to deliver the cake the next day! The cake was layered in hard, decorative balls, so needless to say we didn't come close to enjoying or finishing the dessert. Don't purchase.

On our previous experience, the staff was so cheerful on exiting/entering during port days- they played music, had cups of water, cold washcloths, etc..not this time. The staff appeared to be hating this duty and was so incredibly rude and inpatient. Normally we purchase a few pictures from the photographers that they take as you exit the ship, however this time they were so cheesy.

Cabin Review

Family Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin FO

Very basic- has not been updated since we were last on the ship 3+ years ago. Multiple cobwebs throughout, corners with hair in them, shower with mold lining the edges, broken tissue holder and corner vanity.

Port Reviews

San Juan

we love the history and culture of San Juan! We stayed two nights prior to our cruise at the DoubleTree Hilton San Juan. Excellent location!!

Dominica

As we have been to this port many times, we weren't too interested in doing any more tours or beaches. Previously we had snorkeled on Champagne beach which was fun.
