We sailed out of Port Canaveral on the 12th of July. We had previously been on the Navigator of the Seas; the Splendor of the Seas and The Brilliance of the Seas to name a few. This ship, the Freedom of the Seas was awesome. The officers and crew and staff made this cruise spectacular! The cruise director, Richard Spacey is perhaps the funniest man on the planet. I've read some previous reviews which stated the food and some staff were not up to par. I'm sure there can be breakdowns but I'd have to say that would be the rare exception. These people running this ship are experts! We had read some reviews prior to the cruise complaining about the dolphin swim not being clean. All I can say is that we had the exact opposite experience. The dolphin swim is not to be missed. Giving up a day in St. Thomas and Meghan's Bay is tough but we'd seen it before and therefore taking our granddaughter on her first cruise (and a dolphin swim) more than made up for not seeing the beautiful Meghan's Bay.Our room attendant was a joy. She made animals out of towels practically every night for our granddaughter and it was with great anticipation that we returned to our suite each night to see what new character would meet us. Our room, the Grand Suite was luxurious and very comfortable. The balcony had two chaise lounges a small table plus two lounge chairs and a larger table. The room was made spotless every day and our attendant was responsive to our every request. The shows on this cruise were the best we have ever seen. From the magician, Drew Thomas to the Freedom of the Seas dancers and singers we were entertained nightly by exciting and talented individuals. For the most part the dinners were excellent. On one night I had chicken marsala and while prepared extremely well it was not in the taste and style that I prefer. It is important to note though that it was an excellent dinner. I just am used to a different way of preparation. There were a large number of children on the cruise (probably in excess of 1,000). They were not disruptive or rude and I think for the most part they were very well behaved. My thanks go out to RCCL for creating a magical experience for us and a truly majestic experience for our granddaughter. We've promised her that we'll be on the Oasis next summer. RCCL has more than earned our trust and our loyalty.Don P. (Sarasota, Florida)
Our cabin number was 1552. It was a Grand Suite. The only complaint would be for the smoke from cigarettes that came from other balconies. Other than that this was perfection.
