My wife and I took a 2 week b2b cruise on the Royal for our honeymoon. We have cruised with princess several times before so knew what to expect for the most part.

First for the ship. The Royal is a big ship. Not Harmony of the Seas type of big, but larger than the other classes of ships in the Princess fleet. The interior of the ship is beautiful and the Piazza is definitely the focal point of the ship. It seemed like there was always something going on in the Piazza at any given time. We enjoyed things like a string quartet, acrobats, house band, and cocktail demonstration over the course of the cruise. There are also several places to eat and drink surrounding the piazza and my wife and I did a “Piazza-crawl” one night eating and drinking our way around the Piazza rather than going to the dining room. The pool decks are nice, but can fill up early in the day. We found that it was usually easier to get chairs by the adult’s only Retreat Pool. We would also highly recommend spending a day, or half day, in the Sanctuary. Though at the front of the ship, there is little/no wind and the loungers were extremely comfortable.

Our cabin was a balcony on the Aloha deck. It was what we expected; the balcony wasn’t huge, but we could sit out there and enjoy breakfast with plenty of room. Our cabin steward, Lem, was awesome. He was always around to take care of things. For example, the battery on the keypad of the safe in the room died one night and after telling him he went to get the supervisor (only they can open the safe’s if they are locked already) and it was fixed within 2 minutes.
