We chose this cruise as the Oasis was supposed to be one of the largest RC ships, and we were curious. The ship was way to large for us. Our stateroom was in the front of the ship; most of the large eateries were in the back of the ship - a lot of walking back and forth. The middle of the ship might have been a better choice for a stateroom, but we didn't have the luxury of that choice. There were activities and entertainment. As much as they were very good and a lot of fun, I think there could have been more of them with much less emphasis on the sale of retail merchandise.

We were fortunate that we didn't have a problem with any of the staff; they all seemed very pleasant and accommodating. RC offered many excursions; we took two, but really only enjoyed our St. Thomas excursion. Our excursion through St. Maarten was through a much distressed part of that Island - not much fun at all. The choice of food on the ship was excellent; the food itself was very good most of the time. There were a couple of times we weren't happy, but our waiter quickly brought us something we liked better - very good customer service. The cabin was very nice. We enjoyed our ocean balcony especially when we were pulling in or out of the ports. Our steward always left things in great shape for us.

All in all, we enjoyed the cruise (except on the days when the ship was rocking due to high winds). We did also get jipped out of a day off the ship due to weather, but I guess that can't be helped. We went to Puerto Rico instead, but arrived when it was dark. I only had a couple of recommendations - the announcements should be able to be heard inside the staterooms, and trays in the dining rooms with buffets would have made it easier for the guests. Other than that, my husband and I thought it was just too big of a ship for us. It is a beautiful ship, though. I think everyone should experience it once. One last comment to parents who bring their children (and there were a lot of children on this cruise), please be considerate and keep an eye on them. Don't let them run all over without supervision.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D8

The cabin was very nice. We had an ocean balcony, which was nice when we pulling in and out of ports - not so nice when the water was rough. Our bed was very comfortable and we were able to request additional pillows. The bathroom had no outlet; however, there was a table and lighted mirror with an outlet outside the bathroom so that I could put on my makeup. There was also an outlet hidden behind the bed for those who have a CPAP machine. We had a small love seat across from the tv (which swiveled toward the love seat or the bed). The bathroom was small, but ample. Our steward always left things in great shape for us.
