I had heard the Pacific Sun had been done up. I question where, maybe the reception area? Embarkation and Disembarkation was extremely efficient. Was dissappointed when we boarded the Ship as you were left to your own device to find your cabin. Other cruises were much more friendly and greeted you when you boarded.
Cabin size was great. It was our first window outside cabin. It had adequate room for the 4 of us. Loved the shower.
We had lunch which I was impressed with as soon as we boarded. I give the food a high rating. I did enjoy the breakfast at Lido as the 3 times I went to the Burgundy for breaky, I never did get the correct order and what I got was cold. I enjoyed the Burgundy for lunch and dinner. I felt it was somewhat friendly that the Bordeaux (and easier to get to). The wait staff were great and the kids enjoyed the magic tricks the staff performed.
I wasn't impressed with the Cruise Director - Sandy. I think he was more impressed with himself. He was quite annoying. The Assistant Cruise Director (Chris - a kiwi) was much more down to earth. Marie was an uptight cow and was rude to guests and Gemma enjoyed flaunting her LARGE assets which was totally not professional. For Tim it was his first cruise so he was pretty quiet. Tom was great and professional.
Entertainment I would put as my biggest disappointment. First timers who were sea sick (along with 90% of the rest of the passengers). The singing quality was poor, apart from the Big Maori Guy (name has slipped my mind). The comedian would have gone down well in the Titanic. The shows were BORING.....
We rock and rolled the whole trip. 6 meter swells. I was lucky enough to not get sick, but had to have a strong stomach as people just vomited in front of you. I didn't sleep for the whole 10 nites as the cabin creaked and I was too scared to sleep. The waves were hitting our window on deck 7. We have been off the ship for 5 days now and I am still rocking. Not a good feeling.
Bar prices were horrific. Especially when you converted to Aussie dollars. There were no specials. The photos were extremely dear at $30 a picture.
The Ports would have been lovely had the weather been kinder. We didn't go to Isle of Pines because of ....hang on...which story do we believe. Our cruise director said weather, captain said swine flu and rumours said it that P&O were too cheap to pay the port charges!!!!! We were disappointed. The captain took us past Norfolk Island to make up for not going to Isle of Pines. Wippee dooo.
Having spoken to a lot of people of the cruise, they have said never again. I probably would give them another chance, but they have nothing on Star Cruises for Service, Prices and Entertainment. Maybe next time I would go out of Australia and it would have to be cheap as we paid top dollar.
